WHY WAS SECURITY LATCH CREATED? For many years now, school administrators, civic leaders, businessmen and especially fire officials have expressed a desire for a safer way to secure panic doors. Most standard methods (locks and chains) don't meet with state fire regulations. They make it virtually impossible for someone trapped inside a building to get out.
